The Future of Private Practice in Ireland; What does it mean for the clinician?

Private medical practice in Ireland is facing a period of significant change. Rising operational costs, staffing pressures, evolving regulation, increasing tax complexity and uncertainty around the future structure of healthcare delivery are creating new challenges for clinicians in private practice. In this environment, consultants must not only continue to deliver high-quality patient care, but also make informed decisions about the long-term direction, resilience and sustainability of their practices.

Medical consultants work long and demanding hours, with clinical responsibilities understandably taking precedence. However, the business realities of private practice are often left unattended. Each consultant is, in effect, managing a medium-sized enterprise — employing staff, investing in capital assets, managing liabilities, and navigating complex financial, tax and succession planning considerations. Without proactive planning, many clinicians reach the end of their careers without having fully and legitimately maximised the financial and business value of their practices.

Our annual Tax and Financial Update provides an opportunity to step away from day-to-day clinical pressures and focus on these critical issues. This year’s event will explore the financial, tax and regulatory developments currently shaping private practice, while also examining what the future may hold for clinicians operating in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.
